Our CTO Tim Horeman received the first annual Athanasiou ABME Award at the Biomedical Engineering Society’s (BMES) Annual Meeting, held on 17-20th October in Atlanta, GA, USA.

BMES is the professional community for biomedical engineering and bioengineering. In 2017, the Athanasiou ABME award was introduced within the Society to bolster graduate students and post-doctoral scholars through their publications.

Tim’s recent publication in the Annals of Biomedical Engineering, “In-vitro detection of small isolated Cartilage Defects: Intra-Vascular Ultrasound vs. Optical Coherence Tomography,” was chosen out of 86 papers. In total, 6 award candidates were selected by BMES senior editors based on the quality and impact of the work and the Editor-in-Chief made the final selection, resulting in Tim Horeman becoming the winner.
